I have to say this is really a great newsletter, just so fascinated with the Castle and all! This was my first newsletter from you so looking forward to more!

Merry Christmas.

 Cathie

Great job Stuart and Pam on the newsletter this month! (and every month of course). It's really a lot of work throwing those things together with all of the information! (and useful information at that - avoiding travel scams).

I enjoyed reading about Castle Wedderburn! For non-history buffs, like myself, I have to get some history somewhere!

Thanks!

Catina

Criccieth Castle, Wales

Criccieth Castle, standing alone like a silent beacon to all that has gone before it, is situated on a headland between two beaches. It has become a prominent North Wales landmark and also a landmark historic site.

Criccieth has a history that stretches back into the mists of time to the medieval conflicts between Wales and England. Originally Criccieth was a stronghold of the native Welsh princes and was later annexed and added to by the English monarch, Edward I. Both the Welsh and English held the castle in high esteem due to its prominent location high on a rocky peninsula overlooking Tremadog Bay.

The central part of the castle (a powerful twin-towered gatehouse) was built by Llywelyn the Great probably between 1230 and 1240. The gatehouse is unique amongst Llwelyn's castles in that he may well have copied an English model. The castle was besieged and taken by Edward's forces in 1283 and extensively refortified, which included adapting a tower for use by catapults or stone-throwing 'engine'. The improvements were put to the test ten or so years later when the castle under attack and had to endure a long siege by the Welsh. During this time all of the castles supplies were ferried in by ship.

The castle's fate was finally sealed in 1404 when the Welsh leader Owain Glyn Dwr captured and burnt the castle (to this day, the walls still bear evidence of scorching) with the help of the French, who’s navy blockaded the area around the castle, thus ensuring that no supplies could reach it.

The ruins of Criccieth Castle have attracted many an artist over the centuries with the most notable being JMW Turner, who used the castle as a backdrop for his famous painting of storm-wrecked mariners.

A Stroll in the Park reviewed by Little Sunshine at Night Owl Romance

A Stroll In The Park is a treasured story that left this reviewer delighted. Young and widowed, Aurora is determined to find love again. But this time around she will not allow herself to be any man’s shadow. Resolute to claim her independence and jump-start her life again, Aurora moves to a new place and meets Drake McKenna at her favorite spot, the park by her apartment.

Aurora intrigues Drake, but he has vowed to never let any woman into his heart ever again. Receiving disturbing news from back home regarding his father’s health, Drake wastes no time and returns to Scotland and shocks his family when he introduces Aurora as his wife.

Although a temporary arrangement to salvage Drake’s sister-in-law from taking half of his brother’s inheritance, Aurora cannot help the feelings she is developing towards Drake. Will he want her the same way she wants him? Has she found her prince charming or is Drake satisfied with only her friendship?

Diana Castilleja has done a wonderful job breathing life to this charming and romantic story. You cannot help but instantly applaud Aurora for her resolve and her desire to fight for Drake. Although frustrating at times, Drake was just a victim of his past experiences and thankfully for him Aurora was just the woman he needed to break through those barriers of trust and unconditional love. Kudos to Ms. Castilleja for a successfully told story that this reviewer feels was a memorable read. I highly recommended story if you are a true romantic at heart!

Score: 4/5

Valentines Day - Flirting With Your Spouse? By Angie Lewis

So what's the big deal about St. Valentine's Day? Well it is the day of love, romance and flirting. What about married couples? I mean, married couples can still sizzle and dazzle each other even if they have been married, five, ten or twenty years, right? So lets start flirting.

Men, you first, have some fun and impress your wife with your love!

1. Set the ambiance and mood of the bedroom by turning off all the lights except one red light bulb in a corner lamp. Sit down on the bed and just stare into your wife's eyes. You won't be able to do this without laughing because your wife will want to know why you are behaving so strange.  When she asks, tell her that you are flirting with her because you love her and miss giving her attention like you used to. She'll love that.

2. Give her your smiling and laughing attention for the rest of the evening. Ask her how her day went. Get interested in your wife and what she has to say.  Nothing makes a woman feel good about her self more than when her man is genuinely interested in her. Lock your gaze with her when you are listening to her talk. When she is done talking, kiss her lightly on the lips.

3. Prepare ahead of time something homemade and tasty to eat, like a chocolate fondue or a chocolate mousse pie. You can do this, if you put your mind to it. Homemade treats are so much more enjoyable and romantic then store bought. But if you really can't cook, at least buy something chocolaty, that is if your wife likes chocolate.

4. Hug and touch your wife whenever you think of it. Don't wait until you want sex, hug her and give her a back rub.  Bring out the homemade pie and cut your wife a piece. Gaze at her lovingly as she gobbles down your delicious pie. Make her impressed with your cooking.

5. Hide an expensive box of chocolates under your wife's pillow. After sex, talk some more, and don't just roll over and go to sleep. Give her your full attention. Love the woman you married.

Ladies, you're next. Do you ever flirt with your husband? Valentines Day is not just for lovers but for married lovers too. I don't care how long you have been married; it is absolutely imperative that you keep your marriage upbeat, romantic, and hot!

1. If you normally don't wear your hair up, then put it up in a sexy bun and put on some red lipstick and greet him at the door in something skimpy. Give him a long sensual kiss right before you sit down to eat his favorite home cooked meal. He might ask you what all this is for. Tell him that you miss flirting with him.  He'll like that.

2. Have your own Valentines chocolate hunt.  Hide individual wrapped chocolates for your husband in your lingerie drawer. Give your husband little hints and clues about where the candy is without actually telling him. Have the candy hidden in a pair of new skimpy, lacy, sheer panties.

3. Put on a brand new slinky nightgown and sit down on the bed acting as if you only want to talk.  Let one of the straps drape down on your arm. Make sure you are wearing his favorite perfume and your hair is tidy and combed. Start reading your favorite book. Glance up at him every once in while and give him a big smile. Continue playing hard to get for a while and watch what happens.

4. Buy some new red silk sheets, and have the bed drawn back and ready for love.  Have only one candle lit. Hide a box of expensive chocolates under your husband's pillow.

Enjoy loving the man you married!

S.J Ronayne

I am the second of four children raised in a very Catholic (clergy in the family and everything) predominantly Irish family. We are a crazy lot with ups and downs and cursing and yelling for cursing, but there is always love. I have two nephews and a niece that I adore. I was born and raised in New Jersey until my family moved to Virginia when I was fifteen. When I was twenty-four I moved to Florida but ended missing my family and friends and moved back home to Virginia after a year and a half. I haven’t traveled the world over except through the thousands of books I have read – most of which are romance novels.

I love reading romance and began writing when I was twelve. Of course, back then my writing was innocent with hand holding, hugs, and pecks on the cheek. My style has matured considerably since then. Most of my heroines share a common thread. They’re not perfect by today’s standards of model beauty. I don’t believe a woman has to be a size zero to be beautiful. And while not all of my heroines will be on the heartier side they all have heart. As do my heroes.
